Please be advised that you will need to enter through the main reception doors and sign in the visitors book on arrival. You will each receive a visitors pass for your duration on site and then be directed to the Physiotherapy department. You are able to park anywhere in the car park for free but will need to enter your car registration on both days at reception. 

The venue are also able to offer a free lunch to everyone on both days. The lunch will be a choice of hot meal or sandwiches. This can be chosen on the day or if you prefer you can bring your own food.

This two-day course is designed for practicing chartered physiotherapists who have previously undertaken a recognised acupuncture foundation course and wish to refresh their practical skills in the clinical treatment of both acute and chronic musculoskeletal pain. Participants should be MCSP and HCPC registered or equivalent and have already successfully undertaken a recognised acupuncture foundation course.

Aims:
➢ To refresh the participant’s theoretical knowledge of the analgesic mechanisms of acupuncture.
➢ To refresh the participant’s theoretical knowledge of the health and safety aspects related to the clinical application of acupuncture.
➢ To refresh the participant’s theoretical knowledge of acupuncture and its role in the treatment of musculoskeletal pain.

These objectives will be achieved through a variety of teaching strategies including lectures, tutorials, seminars, action groups, problem-based learning scenarios, clinical reasoning-based case studies and practical needling situations.

During the course you may also be required to undertake a theoretical and practical assessment.

Learning will also be supported by the course study manual and the use of research-based teaching materials and methods.

Students will be provided with the following resources for their use on the course:
Course manual, handouts and a selection of acupuncture needles.
