Male problems in complementary medicine practice is a very common area of concern. The most common topics in clinical practice includes ED, infertility, and lower libido. Some of them could be sorted out by medications and medical procedure like IVFs. However, the clinical outcomes of those medical treatments are not always satisfactory. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) provides an alternative way of management, involving Chinese herbs, acupuncture, moxibustion, and life style changes.
Those conditions are also common among patients with muscular skeleton disorders which are often neglected, or omitted in some of the practitioners in mainstream medicine. The conditions will not automatically resolved after the main MSDs well managed or cleared.
Applying acupuncture in the management of such conditions could promote a positive outcome not only in the disorders themselves, but also the rehabilitation of the MSD.
The understanding of such conditions from TCM point of view is discussed, from the main organs to the extra channel system. The treatment planning is illustrated in acupuncture point selection rationale. And research evidence is examined for the help of clinical decision making.
